Sarah Palin's Daughter Expecting

In the News:

Palin confirms daughter's pregnancy

"The Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin has announced that her 17-year-old daughter is pregnant, in an announcement intended to knock down rumors by liberal bloggers that Palin faked her own pregnancy to cover up for her child.

Bristol Palin, one of Palin's five children with her husband, Todd, is about five months pregnant and is going to keep the child and marry the father, the Palins said in a statement released by the campaign of Republican presidential candidate John McCain.

Bristol Palin made the decision on her own to keep the baby, McCain aides said.

"We have been blessed with five wonderful children who we love with all our heart and mean everything to us," the Palins' statement said.

"Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. As Bristol faces the responsibilities of adulthood, she knows she has our unconditional love and support," the Palins said.

The Palins asked the news media to respect the young couple's privacy.

"Bristol and the young man she will marry are going to realize very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family. We ask the media, respect our daughter and Levi's privacy as has always been the tradition of children of candidates," the statement concluded.

Senior McCain campaign officials said McCain knew of the daughter's pregnancy when he selected Palin last week as his vice presidential running mate, deciding that it did not disqualify the 44-year-old governor in any way.

In the short period since she was announced last Friday, Palin has helped to energize the Republican Party's conservative base, giving the McCain camp fresh energy going into the campaign for the November 4th election against Democrat Barack Obama.

McCain officials said the news of the daughter's pregnancy was being released to rebut what one aide called "mud-slinging and lies" circulating on liberal blog sites.

According to these rumors, Sarah Palin had faked a pregnancy and pretended to have given birth in May to her fifth child, a son named Trig who has Down syndrome. The rumor was that Trig was actually Bristol Palin's child and that Sarah Palin was the grandmother.

A senior McCain campaign official said the McCain camp was appalled that these rumors had not only been spread around liberal blog sites and partisan Democrats, but also were the subject of heightened interest from mainstream news media.

"The despicable rumors that have been spread by liberal blogs, some even with Barack Obama's name in them, is a real anchor around the Democratic ticket, pulling them down in the mud in a way that certainly juxtaposes themselves against their 'campaign of change,'" a senior aide
said. "

I don't believe a word of it. They were hoping to keep this under the radar until the election had taken place. You can't trust that McCain and Mrs. Pallin is not a true Christian or she wouldn't be engaging in so many sneaky underhanded tactics, in Alaska and elsewhere. Why would any Christian put their daughter through such a public shaming? It's the kind of things the Muslims do. Jesus said let who is without sin cast the first stone. And Sarah Pallin knew that stones would be thrown at her daughter and let it happen anyway. She's a mean self absorbed person who I don't believe has yet found the true faith.

I truly feel for the daughter.

I don't think she means to shame her daughter. I think they just want to tell the truth. I do think it is silly for her daughter to marry the boy at 17. I think it is awesome she is keeping the baby but marriage at such a young age? I am not in a place to judge whether or not she is a true christian. That's up to God to judge. I can't believe I'm defending a republican....anyway parents do the best they can but children have free agency.

Maybe "the Christian thing" to do would be to pray for the young teens, their baby and their families. Blessings often come in the most unexpected ways.

God Bless!

I don't know if she is a true Christian either. But she should be putting her children first before trying to obtain the high honor of being the Vice-President. She reminds me of everything I've read about the Pharisees. I'm not here to judge, I'm here to question because I wonder if we Christians were meant to govern. Our Lord and Savior didn't, either in the church or in the Roman Empire at that time. He could had if he had wanted to. But he didn't and there was a very good reason. It is a corrupting sin prone state to put yourself in.

If she can't control her own family, how's she going to control the country if something happens to McCain? I'm not sold on her at all as a government official. She should be at home taking care of her family. If she had, none of this would have happened. But to knowingly cause your daughters sins to be broadcast to the world is quite irresponsible. Forgiveable but NOT the kind of persons we want to represent Christians to America.

If she weren't running for a high government office, I would say leave them alone, but we have a country here that needs to be cared for and nurtured and I question whether she can do it if she can't do if for her own flesh and blood. But who knows. Maybe she's the anti-Christ. The Bible said that the anti-Christ would come in as a lamb.

Really doubt you are serious but after all God lost 1/3 of his spirit children....no matter how good a parent one is children have their agency.

On the one hand, this is a family matter that should be private within the Palin family. That's what families are for... to love and support one another and, when necessary, deal with situations such as this.

On the other hand, when Mrs. Palin accepted the invitation to become Senator McCain's running mate, she knew that she was opening up her life and that of her family to public scrutiny.

I'm kind of in the camp that it is none of our business, really. But then again, maybe it is. It does, after all, reflect in some ways on the judgment and family values of the lady who would have us choose her as our next vice president.

I don't know. I'm so confused!
