Have you seen the little YouTube video of two government employees stuck on an elevator? It's less than a minute, but it has a very powerful message.
We can no longer put responsiblity outside ourselves. Everyone is blaming everyone else for America's credit crunch and financial crisis. We can not look to the government as our savior. Government is not the answer, and usually government, as in this case, is the cause of the problem.
We think a "rescue bill" or a "bailout bill" will make everything all better. America has for too long been a nation living on borrowed credit and borrowed time. Time's up.
This is a big wake up lesson. Ultimately, it's all about personal responsiblity and personal accountability and personal integrity. "God helps those who help themselves."

Bailout Bill....More Government is Not the Answer

Stop the Housing Bailout !
My family has been saving for the last fifteen years to be able to afford to buy a house. Two weeks ago we made an offer and it was accepted. Now there is a proposed "Housing Bailout Bill" that is supposed to save the economy and house buyers who got in over their heads. I don't know alot about the financial side of the economy, but to me, this bill is unethical and just wrong. We have scrimped and saved to buy our house and I don't want to bailout those who didn't. And all mortgage companies need to operate within our free enterprise system. If they were bad dishonest companies, they need to fail. To bail them out is the beginning of our country becoming a Socialist state and the government becoming All-Powerful. This cannot be allowed to happen.
I've found an interesting website, called "Stop the Housing Bailout". Check it out!

from their front page:
"This site is dedicated to stopping the government's planned bailout of the housing market. A bailout requires responsible Americans to pay for the acts of greedy bankers, mortgage brokers, flippers, and over-extended home-borrowers. In other words, the government wants you to pay for the blunders of others who knew, or should have known, better.
Equally as important, a bailout would permanently price out of the housing market all those responsible Americans who have been patiently saving to buy a house that they can actually afford. The current housing correction is necessary to remedy the historic run up in housing prices over the past decade. By bailing out the housing market, the government will prevent housing prices from returning to affordable levels, thereby ensuring that renters will not be able to buy a home and current homeowners will not be able to upgrade."
Stop the Housing Bailout Bill !

Send Sarah Palin to the Debate !

Since Obama is still whinily insisting there must be a debate Friday night, and it cannot be posponed, even as the country is on the brink of financial collapse, why not send Sarah? John McCain can stay in Washington and work for a solution to the country's crisis and for the welfare of the American people; and Sarah Palin can go and debate with Obama, so he can show off his oratory skills and have his ego stroked.
Many are suggesting this scenario. And I think it's a great idea, Sarah Palin just might take Obama by surprise, as she has positively surprised the nation this past month!
"As for the question of Friday night's debate, which some in the media seem to think more important than saving the financial system--if the negotiations are still going on in D.C., McCain should offer to send Palin to debate." ~Bill Kristol, "The Weekly Standard"

McCain and Palin Work to Solve U.S. Financial Crisis
NEWS UPDATE
John McCain suspended his campaign today in order to return to Washington to work on the immediacy of the nation's most serious financial crises since the Great Depression.
Sarah Palin has been in New York City this week. FOX News reports:
"Sarah Palin is calling for Congress to take bipartisan action to reform Wall Street.
But the Republican tells CBS News it doesn’t necessarily have to be in the form of the 700 billion dollar government bailout currently under discussion in Washington.
She warns that if nothing is done, another Great Depression could be on the horizon."

"Hurricane Sarah" Palin Storms Florida !

(photos copyrighted by news-press.com)
The Sarah Palin Family hit Florida like a hurricane Sunday, drawing thousands to a GOP rally.
In the News :
Sarah Palin draws crowd of 60,000 in The Villages
By Bill Cotterell
news-press.com capital bureau
"THE VILLAGES -- Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin told wildly cheering, flag-waving, chanting supporters that John McCain is "the only great man in this race" and promised Sunday he will fix the nation's economy if voters give the GOP four more years in the White House.
"He won't say this, so I'll say it for him," the Alaska governor said in an almost confidential tone at the close of her first Florida stump speech. "There is only one man in this election who has ever really fought for you. John McCain wore the uniform of his country for 22 years -- talk about tough."
The Villages, a vast, upscale planned community north of Orlando, has about 70,000 mostly adult residents -- many of them military retirees -- who vote reliably Republican in statewide races. Tens of thousands inched along roads into the picturesque town square of the complex, where they stood in sweltering heat for about four hours as local GOP officials and a country band revved up the crowd.
"Sa-Rah! Sa-Rah!" they chanted at every mention of her name, applauding loudly and waiving tiny American flags that were distributed -- along with free water bottles -- by local volunteers. The fire chief estimated the crowd at 60,000."

Americans for Sarah Palin!!!
As the liberals ratchet up their inflammatory rhetoric against Vice-Presidential candidate Sarah Palin, it behooves us, her supporters, to stand up to the name calling from the pandering, inexperienced, tax-till-you-bleed opposition.
Much of the hate-filled onslaught against Sarah comes from women who purport to speak for the collective American woman, that is, the collective far-left woman, whom they define as intellectual, highly educated and tolerant of all behaviors to a fault.
Well, how dare they! They do not represent us!
The collective American woman has many more facets than the liberals acknowledge, and the heart and soul of the American woman lies in her ability to nurture a family, approve a line-item budget at home and in business, and cogently discuss current events, poetry, literature, music and art. She steers a car safely while wiping a little runny nose, then cheers her son or daughter’s sports team with gusto.
She studies and researches fuel alternatives and their sources, expertly recommends actions to relieve our nation’s fuel discomfort, goes home and, without thinking, throws in a load of laundry before fixing dinner. She exchanges a knowing look with her husband while listening to the kids tell about their days’ activities, then magically juggles last-minute homework, dishes, baths, bedtime stories, and folding the laundry she’d put in earlier.
The collective American woman sheds tears sending her son or daughter off to war and yet supports the military as a necessary lynchpin of freedom. She gives thanks for the opportunities this country affords when regularly worshiping, then fellowships with other congregants who may need a word of encouragement. She knows the value of a dollar and how to spend it wisely, especially when times are tough, and she’s not embarrassed to say that hard working Americans should keep more of their paychecks, rather than “patriotically” ceding more to taxes.
She supports tough sanctions and, if necessary, military action against foreign powers that would do us harm, then gently cradles a blessed little son whom she allowed to be born with Down’s syndrome.
We believe this definition of the collective American woman describes Vice-Presidential candidate Sarah Palin. We are women – and men – who support Sarah Palin as an “individual” who represents the American experience – with all its dreams, struggles, and realities.
If you agree with us, we invite you to reply to this post on our forum with a short message about why you support Sarah Palin as Vice-President of the United States. Please include your first name, last initial, age and city and state of residence. We will publish your comments on our forum, http://www.womenforsarahpalin.net/, and further, as possible.
P.S. Please forward this post to 20 men and women within the next hour. You could be blessed with an America who hears the voice of her patriots."
Sincerely,

Republican Vice Presidential Candidate Sarah Palin Lures White Women Voters
By Leta Hong Fincher
VOA News
"Public opinion polls show that many American women are responding enthusiastically to the Republican nominee for U.S. vice president, Governor Sarah Palin. Many white women voters appear to have turned away from the Democratic nominee, Senator Barack Obama, to Republican Senator John McCain since he announced Palin as his running mate. But some feminist groups say the McCain-Palin ticket would reverse progress on issues important to women. Leta Hong Fincher has more.
Sarah Palin pauses during her speech at a campaign event in Lebanon, Ohio, 9 Sept. 2008Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has become one of America's most famous working mothers since being named the Republican vice presidential nominee."I was just your average hockey mom and signed up for the PTA [parent-teacher association]," Palin told supporters. The supporter of gun rights and 44-year-old mother of five has energized Republican voters who were previously not enthusiastic about Senator John McCain. And white women are among Palin's most fervent fans - like Angel Voggenreiter, a part-time working mother in Virginia.
Angel Voggenreiter"I did go to the McCain-Palin rally and I probably wouldn't have gone if it had just been John McCain, because, you know, [I have to] get the kids up in the morning, I have work to do. But I basically took the whole day off to go to see Sarah Palin," Voggenreiter said.
Recent public opinion polls show a significant shift in support among white women from Democratic Senator Barack Obama to McCain since he named Palin as his running mate. Many of these women say they feel a connection to Palin as a mother struggling to balance work and family."

Sarah Palin's Private Email Hacked and Published
In the News
The attacks from the left against Sarah Palin and her family continue.....
FBI, Secret Service Investigate Hacking of Palin’s E-mail
by FOXNews.com
The FBI and Secret Service have launched a joint investigation into the apparent hacking of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin’s private e-mail account after a widely-read Web site published screen grabs from it on Wednesday.
The article posted on Gawker.com revealed snapshots of e-mail exchanges the Alaska governor had with colleagues as well as private family photos. The gossip site says the email account has since been shut down.
Rick Davis, campaign manager for John McCain, released a statement Wednesday calling the publication a “shocking invasion of the governor’s privacy and a violation of law.”
“The matter has been turned over to the appropriate authorities and we hope that anyone in possession of these e-mails will destroy them. We will have no further comment,” Davis said.
An FBI spokesman in Alaska later confirmed, “We are going to be working a joint investigation with Secret Service on this.”
The Secret Service contacted The Associated Press and asked for copies of the leaked e-mails, which circulated widely on the Internet. The AP did not comply.
The Gawker article boasts about the lengths to which the reporter went to verify the account, saying he or she even called a phone number listed for Palin’s teenage daughter, Bristol, which apparently went to her voicemail. The site also listed dozens of contact e-mails from the account.
“Here are the screenshots of the emails saved before the account went dark, along with the contact list. It’s newsworthy and we will not be taking it down!” the site declares.
Both WIRED and Gawker reported that members claiming to be with a group known as Anonymous took credit for hacking into Palin’s account. Screen grabs were published on other Web sites and then deleted, Gawker reported."

In the News:
This is great news! The McCain/Palin surge continues....
An Army of Sarahs
by Hugh Hewitt
Townhall.com
"Sarah Palin keeps collecting admirers. Her interview with ABC News Charles Gibson has added another legion, and that number is growing as the recognition spreads that the editing done to the interview was deeply deceptive of its overall impression --even stronger than what came through on the broadcast version--and that Gibson unfairly mangled a quote of hers. Media elites are clucking that Palin didn't instantly define the "Bush Doctrine" to the level of detail demanded by (their) judges, but another vast audience watched another attempt to diminish her and has responded with an even greater enthusiasm for the Alaska governor.
Manhattan-Beltway media elites are very slow to recognize anything completely new. This is why prior to 9/11 they were in the dark about Islamist extremism. It is why prior to $4 a gallon gas, they had never anticipated a huge majority of Americans would demand offshore drilling.
And it is why they still don't understand the Palin Breakout.
Since the day John McCain selected Palin as his running mate, I have spoken with only women callers to my radio show. For the past week I have limited callers to those who are calling a radio show for the very first time. All the lines have been filled every hour of every day. Caller after caller wants to discuss their affection for Sarah, their willingness to work for her and contribute to the RNC and to share stories of like-minded women in their families and among their friends.
Each new attack on Palin brings increased enthusiasm for her".....

BYU Football Program, About More Than Football

I love watching BYU football. They are already 3-0 this season After overpowering UCLA Saturday by a score of 59-0, the Cougars have moved up in the Coaches Poll to #11 in the nation!
I love that the BYU football program is about MORE than just football! An article in last week's "Deseret News" tells about the main reason for the program.

By Jeff Call
Deseret News
MormonTimes.com
"KENT, Wash. -- On the eve of the Brigham Young University football team's big game against Washington, coach Bronco Mendenhall told a chapel packed with Cougar fans and LDS Church members Friday night that the outcome of the contest wasn't the most important aspect of this weekend for him.
"It might be fourth or fifth," Mendenhall said.He explained that being a part of the fireside -- which the team does the night before every game, home and away -- and the chance to spend time with his wife, his children and his parents rank higher on his list than a football game.
"I won't back down from that," Mendenhall said.
As usual, the theme of the fireside put on by the players and coaches touched on being a disciple of Jesus Christ.
"For those of you who can't come to the game tomorrow, you're here for the most important part of the weekend for us," Mendenhall said.
He added that some remarkable things have happened in his program since he took the helm nearly four years ago, but, he said, "I'm not talking about our win-loss record."
He added, "The only reason to have a football program at BYU is to bring people unto Christ."

Values Voters Like Sarah Palin

In the News:
'Values voters' eye a Leader in Palin as others fade
by Ralph Z. Hallow
WashingtonTimes.com
"Gov. Sarah Palin has seemingly overnight become the leading candidate for future leader of the conservative movement in the nation - regardless of whether she and running mate Sen. John McCain capture the White House in November.
Mr. McCain and Mrs. Palin, the governor of Alaska, were invited to address this weekend's Values Voters Summit in Washington but are expected to be no-shows, leaving only Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich as two of the biggest political names scheduled to address the conclave of social conservatives."
.........
"Eagle Forum President Phyllis Schlafly, conservative cause prompter Richard Viguerie and Free Congress Foundation President Paul M. Weyrich - all considered movement founders - each gave The Times the same two-word answer to the question about the emerging leader of the right: "Sarah Palin."
"None of the above names - Romney, Gingrich, Huckabee, DeLay - will be the conservative movement's leader in the coming years," Mr. Viguerie said. "Governor Palin's VP nomination is huge. It changes conservative, Republican and American politics for the next 20 years."

PALIN: I agree that a president's job, when they swear in their oath to uphold our Constitution, their top priority is to defend the United States of America. I know that John McCain will do that and I, as his vice president, families we are blessed with that vote of the American people and are elected to serve and are sworn in on January 20, that will be our top priority is to defend the American people.
GIBSON: Do we have a right to anticipatory self-defense? Do we have a right to make a preemptive strike again another country if we feel that country might strike us?
PALIN: Charlie, if there is legitimate and enough intelligence that tells us that a strike is imminent against American people, we have every right to defend our country. In fact, the president has the obligation, the duty to defend.

ABC to Host First Sarah Palin Interview
In the News:
ABC News Hammering out Palin Interview Plans
By Paul J. Gough
"ABC News is spending more time trying to assemble the logistics of its exclusive interview with Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin than it did negotiating with the McCain campaign itself.
The Alaska governor, a virtual unknown two weeks ago, has electrified the election campaign since Sen. John McCain stunned the political establishment by announcing her as his running mate on August 29.
But the GOP campaign refused to make the relative newcomer available for interviews. Until Friday afternoon, when senior McCain adviser Steve Schmidt offered an exclusive to ABC News.
The network quickly locked down most of the details with the campaign. But the challenges of traveling to Alaska -- and, more importantly, bringing along a network-news infrastructure for the interview and two nights of "World News" -- has taken into the early part of the week to arrange.
Even as late as midday Monday, Gibson's schedule was up in the air. It's likely he'll leave Wednesday, and will interview Palin several times Thursday and Friday. The interviews will take place in two unidentified cities in Alaska.
The first parts of the interview could air as early as Thursday's "World News." But it will be a rush, "World News" executive producer Jon Banner said Monday.
"The time change is a challenge, to say the least," Banner said. "We're on at 2:30 in the afternoon (Alaska time)."
The network said it couldn't yet commit to a primetime hour for the Palin interview, though it's likely that a special edition of "20/20" or "Primetime" with Palin would likely be a ratings winner given how well last Wednesday's acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention did in the ratings."

Christian Publisher Announces New Biography of Sarah Palin

Zondervan Announces New Biography of Sarah Palin
Most Talked-About Woman in America is the Model for the 21st Century Leader
Christian Newswire -- "Alaska Governor Sarah Palin's nomination as vice presidential candidate by John McCain not only changed the landscape of the current election, but also marks a shift in leadership style across our country. Her acceptance speech during the Republican National Convention showcased her personal brand of intelligence, passion, vigor and hope, and explained why she is the most talked-about woman in America.
A new biography, titled "Sarah Palin: A New Kind of Leader" by Joe Hilley (Zondervan 2008), will explore themes from her career in politics, her life as a hockey mom, and her strongly held Christian faith, explaining how they influence her new style of leadership and align with our changing economy in the information age. The book is scheduled for release nationwide on October 10, 2008.
"Regardless of your political persuasion, it is clear that Sarah Palin has quickly electrified the 2008 election and sparked a nationwide dialogue and debate," said Moe Girkins, president and CEO of Zondervan. "We are honored to publish this book that will provide readers with a comprehensive look into the life and rising political career of Sarah Palin."
In Sarah Palin: A New Kind of Leader, Hilley explores traits from Palin's background and experience, including her maverick integrity, electrifying communication style, career agility, and perpetual education, to establish his argument for Palin as an exemplary leader in our rapidly changing cultural landscape. By exploring the leadership principles that have catapulted Palin into the national spotlight, Hilley explains how she models a fresh paradigm of leadership that will guide the United States through the 21st century.
"We live in an age that values relationship over authority and instant information over accuracy, so breadth of knowledge and depth of conviction are the most prized commodities for our leaders," said Hilley. "Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin brings both of these qualities and more to her new role as John McCain's running mate and I'm eager for readers to have the opportunity to know her and her brand of leadership more thoroughly."

LDS Chapels ~ Visitors ARE Welcome

"A common misperception among those not of the Mormon faith is that only Latter-day Saints can enter their chapels. This is most likely based on a misunderstanding about temples and chapels. While temples, of which there are 140 (including existing ones and those announced or under construction) worldwide, are open only to members of the Church who are fully engaged in their faith, anyone can enter a Mormon chapel to visit or worship with their Latter-day Saint neighbors. There are over 17,000 chapels throughout the world with a new one built, on average, each day."

Sarah Palin is Special !
"What's So Special About Sarah?"
By Daniel Henninger
RealClear Politics
"In a less crazed world, the Sarah Palin story -- hunter and snowmobiling mom becomes Alaska governor and routs old-boy political machine in bed for years with energy industry -- would be celebrated. Of course, they have to demolish her.
Sarah's story is the stuff of Erin Brockovich movies and full-page newspaper spreads. Except: She's "pro-life," is a "Christian," and unlike all the white guys who came in second, Sarah looks like she might help get a Republican elected.
It may be possible to pack more downward spin in what is being written about her, but modern media records are being set. Sarah has to be stopped because Sarah looks like trouble.
When John McCain announced in Dayton, Ohio that his vice presidential running mate would be Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska, he looked respectable but a little stiff -- a bit like his campaign. Then Sarah spoke. And after lying dormant across two years of presidential campaigning, the Republican faithful exploded.
It would be an exaggeration to say one had never seen anything like it, but the public take-up on the virtually unknown Alaskan governor was phenomenal.
Attribute the surge in the GOP base, if you wish, to Rush Limbaugh's concise Friday afternoon summary: "Sarah Palin: babies, guns, Jesus. Hot damn!" But even that probably won't get you 270 electoral votes.
The really interesting reaction to Sarah emerged just beyond the base. A lot of us picked up real enthusiasm Friday from people, notably women, who've never spent one moment with Politico.com or talk radio.
News columns now are overflowing with doubting women, but wait 'til the real campaign starts. This is going to be good.
One can't subtract politics from a woman who is running for vice president, but Sarah Palin's manifest appeal at the moment is about something larger than retail politics. If it holds up, the Democrats have a problem.
The Sarah Palin story doesn't fit the standard liberal model the past 30 years of what defines a high-achieving woman. The impulse in acceptable political society to condescend to lovely, ebullient Sarah is palpable. If the TV commentators tried to sound any smarter dismissing her qualifications, their big brains would burst.
Who is she? I mean after all, prior to whatever passes for politics up there in Alaska, all she seems to have done was play sports, go to a no-name university and have lots of babies? She's a beauty queen! This isn't even close to your standard East Coast über-woman. Sarah didn't go to Harvard Law and clerk for some legendary judge; her first job was as an Alaskan sportscaster! A great roar has arisen this week from Manhattan (New York, not Kansas): "Look at her standing there with John McCain, thinking she's Little Miss Perfect. My God, she almost sounds like an Alaskan Valley Girl. This can't possibly work, can it??!!!"
We'll find out. For starters, a lot of women voters don't live in New York, Boston, L.A. or San Francisco. Maybe Sarah Palin from Wasilla is a lot closer to the way many women today see themselves than the standard feminist model. Gloria Steinem, one of the many mothers of that ideal, is 74. Sarah Palin is 44. Times change.
Many younger women didn't learn what it means to be an achieving woman from dormitory feminism. She didn't abandon her hometown for the big city. She stayed home, had babies, helped her snowmobiling husband with his commercial fishing business and with him, tried to assemble a life.
She got into politics in Wasilla with zero connections -- no famous father, no financing husband, no mentor, nothing. She got elected mayor. She got into politics to improve her community, not to launch herself on some career path she had figured out while in college.
Then came the interesting part. Under the standard model, you deploy your superb IQ to maneuver upward around the oppressors. Sarah Jock, learning her self-discipline in such weird pursuits as morning moose-hunts with her dad, ran at the system. Doing something few women and no males would do, she went after the men who run Alaska's inbred politics, the machine. And cleaned their clocks. The people elected her governor.
I asked a number of women this week to account for Sarah Palin's sudden appeal. Here are the common threads.
The angry woman-as-victim drives them nuts. They hate victimology. As one woman said, "The point is that across the ages women have been doing pretty much what Sarah Palin has been doing: bearing children, feeding families, bringing in an income, working to improve their communities."
Another woman said, "Her story reflects a more normal reality" of active women; "the harder you work, the luckier you get." Hillary Clinton still plays the victim card. Sarah Palin gives off no victim vibes. These women mentioned her grit, determination and character.
They also said the Roe v. Wade litmus test has become too knee-jerk. Simply writing off Sarah Palin as "pro-life" caricatures pregnancy and motherhood.
Let's stipulate that not all "liberal" women share the Roe-dominated test of which women in public life get a pass and which are shunned. But this notion of sisterhood as a rules-based club is the public face of the feminist message, and in politics message is all -- until it no longer makes sense.
Sarah Palin looks like the old model's first real political challenge. They will be gunning for her. Good luck with that."

Palin Power !

"Country First"
So what did you think of the speech last night? Did John McCain select the right candidate for his V.P.?
(My opinion, she is exactly what Washington needs!)
In the News:
Conservatives hyped over Palin
By LIZ SIDOTI
The No. 2 on the GOP ticket clearly impressed the party faithful Wednesday as she smoothly moved from lavishing praise on McCain - "a true profile in courage" who has "determination, resolve, and sheer guts" - to throwing punches at Democratic rival Barack Obama.
"Victory in Iraq is finally in sight. He wants to forfeit," Palin said in her vice presidential acceptance speech. "Government is too big. He wants to grow it. Congress spends too much. He promises more. Taxes are too high. He wants to raise them."
Even as controversy swirled around the Alaska governor, there was little doubt that loyalists loved this mother of five, churchgoer, abortion opponent and moose hunter. They erupted at every mention of her name before she took the stage. And they gave her a thunderous welcome when she emerged.
The question now: Do they adore her enough to turn out in droves for McCain in the fall?
Obama had better hope not.
Palin's selection has "reinvigorated the whole Republican Party. People who were feeling down are excited again," said Eagle Forum head Phyllis Schlafly. "Hell, they're even getting enthusiastic about McCain."
The one-time scourge of the GOP who now is its new standard-bearer has never been a favorite of the party's right flank. He isn't publicly passionate about cultural issues the base holds dear, and distrust remains years after he called influential Christian conservative leaders "agents of intolerance."
Nonetheless, he tried to get the security, fiscal and social conservative bloc to support him during the Republican primary.
It didn't.
He won the nomination anyway, and hoped the right would eventually fall in line.
It still didn't.
The GOP's conservative core has been depressed with its nominee since he clinched the nomination in March. McCain has made slow progress drawing the base to his side and getting it ginned up for the fall.
Conversely, the liberal Democratic foundation long ago embraced Obama and is, as the Illinois senator says, "fired up, ready to go."
Then, McCain chose Palin.
Conservatives sounded like the world was right again.
"An outstanding choice," praised Focus on the Family founder James Dobson.
"Grand slam home run," gushed former presidential candidate Gary Bauer.
"Ecstatic," said Richard Land of the Southern Baptist Convention.
And, Utah Sen. Orrin Hatch added, "I had tears in my eyes."

Is V.P. Nominee Sarah Palin A Mormon?

Many bloggers and readers are asking the question, "Is Sarah Palin a Mormon?"
See:
Nothing Wavering
A Well Behaved Mormon Woman
To me, Sarah Palin, seems like a "female Romney". She has a spotless character, traditional conservative values, is innovative, strong, spiritual, experienced, fearless, a risk-taker,kind, honest, puts her family first and is a tireless hard worker for her country.
She is an uncommon politician, as she says, "with the heart of a servant".
I like that!
Though she was born in Idaho, the Mountain West, where many are of the LDS faith; according to Wikipedia, she is not a Mormon, like Mitt Romney, but an evangelical Christian, like Huckabee. She may be a member of the Assembly of God, a pentecostal church.
From Wikipedia article on Sarah Palin:
Religion
"Palin was originally baptized as a Roman Catholic, but her parents switched to the Wasilla Assembly of God, a Pentecostal church, where she was rebaptized at age 12 or 13. When she is in the capital, she attends Juneau Christian Center, another Assemblies of God church. Her current home church in Wasilla is The Church on the Rock, an independent congregation. Although initial reports described her as the first Pentecostal ever named to a major party's presidential ticket, Palin describes herself as a non-denominational Christian."
I think Sarah Palin is an exciting V.P. pick for McCain and for America! She will be a great asset to the Republican ticket. She will bring Conservatives together, appeal to women, and has already begun to increase party donations. She is a strong, intelligent woman and a quick study. I believe she will be ready to lead with strength and confidence on day one. And I look forward to learning more about her and her beautiful family.

Aid Sent by LDS Church to Hurricane Gustav Area
LDS Church, Utah Red Cross plan to aid hurricane victims
(KSL News) The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is trying to help those in the expected impact zone of Hurricane Gustav.
Seven semitrailer loads of emergency relief supplies from Salt Lake City are on their way to Gulf Coast church storehouses.
Church officials say more trucks are scheduled to head south through the weekend with hygiene kits and food boxes.
And 16 Utah volunteers will soon join the Red Cross effort against Gustav. Many of the volunteers are headed to Texas; others to Baton Rouge.
The Utah Red Cross chapters also are supplying several emergency response vehicles to the Gulf Coast.
Red Cross volunteers already on site are helping people evacuate and are handing out water, food and other supplies.
