I love Elder Neal A. Maxwell. He is one of the all-time great Church leaders. He knew he had cancer (like me) and lived with it for a long time, but his diagnosis only made his faith stronger. He never lost sight of the "big picture". What happens to us here on earth is not really important. Our goal is much bigger. And our hope is in a divine purpose and pattern.
“Those with true hope often see their personal circumstances shaken, like kaleidoscopes, again and again. Yet with the ‘eye of faith,’ they still see divine pattern and purpose.” (Alma 5:15).

Answer to prayer of Jospeh Smith when he was unjustly held prisoner in Liberty Jail:
"My son, peace be unto thy soul; thine adversity and thine afflictions shall be but a small moment." (D & C 121:7)
